Joanne Devota-Rando is an experienced Registered Counsellor with over 15 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, families, and individuals living with disability. She brings a warm, compassionate, and practical approach to therapy, creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can develop insight, build resilience, and achieve meaningful change.

Joanne holds a Master of Counselling from Monash University, an Honours degree in Psychology, a Graduate Diploma of Counselling (Child, Youth and Family Therapy), and a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology).

Throughout her career, Joanne has worked extensively across education, community mental health, trauma services, disability support, and private practice settings. Her experience includes providing counselling within schools, supporting survivors of torture and trauma through Foundation House, working with children and adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties, and assisting individuals and families navigating complex life challenges.

Joanne works with a broad range of presentations including anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, trauma, grief and loss, self-esteem concerns, behavioural challenges, school refusal, autism, ADHD, and family relationship difficulties. She is passionate about helping clients understand themselves more deeply while developing practical skills to manage life’s challenges.

Her therapeutic approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive. Joanne integrates evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions, psychoeducation, solution-focused therapy, and play-based approaches to tailor treatment to each individual’s unique needs.
